This Year's Model Updates:

The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

I own a 2004 Chevy Silverado LS 4x4 ext cab, and it drives better than most of the luxary cars I have driven. This truck can haul-a$$. It bought the 2004 for a work truck. I soon found out that I can press the padal and beat the corvette in the next lane. the top speed is electronicaly limited to 95MPH but it could get up to 130 easily. It does guzzle Gas. I would not recomend it to the person that wants a fuel effecient truck. If you want a fun to drive truck this is the one. I have taken this truck off roading and it has been twisted and turned in ways no vehical should. I checked out the vehical later, every part was still stong. BUILT TO LAST

This truck can fly off the line (for a truck) and haul anything you throw at it. The ride is smooth, aslong as you dont change the suspension. If you add a Power Chip it boost the power along with alittle more gas mileage. Along with the right kinda of tires, the 4x4 will get you out of most problems. The protection the engine and electrical parts have from water and mud is great. I went through 4ft of water(factory height) without any problems afterward, except alittle water in the cab...no biggy. Careful with the CD player tho, if a cd is in when you start up, it may not play, youll have to take it out then reinsert.

  • I LOVE MY TRUCK ? - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I purchased my chevy on base from owning previously a chevy truck A 2000 three quarter ton. My idea was good luck once, good luck twice and was not disappointed. Driving my truck i felt empowered good on the road and safe knowing i was driving a chevy and the way it drove. Problems minimal only wear and tare issues. It seemed when problems come it was never with the engine or transmission just suspension type issues. My truck has run for two lifetimes and was only made, type and model at the end of 2003 for issue on the floor for 2004!!. Mind you me that is something worth.

I test drove every new crewcab half-ton pickup and I thought the new Silverado was the best. It has great power and a very nice interior.

This truck still has 1/4" brake shoes left (f+r), which includes towing tandem trailer daily for 1 1/2 yrs. No one I work with owns a more reliable truck even those that cost 40-50K$. I peg the tach almost every day, uses nearly no oil, mpg avgs. 16+ city with AC; 17-19 hwy; 10-12 towing. Interior is very comfortable and no pickup has a colder AC. Here in FL I never have to run the fan past "3" for more than a minute to chase out 100+heat. The x- cab still has a 66" bed, Dodge has 63" which isnt enough. Much better ride than Dodge, and way better interior instrumentation than XLT Ford. Engine compartment is roomy, allowing ease of maintenance. The bed is low allowing easy loading of very heavy items.

This truck is the only truck in the top 3 that isnt blown or has a Viper engine, DUH, of course its not gonna have the HP of the others!! It has AWD though, and no Lim Slip in the back, so if you wanna go toe to toe from the starting line, Im there. Take your heads out of your a$$es and give credit where credit is due. Oh, Im sorry, how much did you pay for that Dodge? And did you get an extended cab with that Ford? Oh yeah, did you want 20" rims? Didnt think so, Ill be seeing you in my rear view mirror...

I tried all of the full size trucks and found Chevy to be the best value for the money. The new F-150 was very uncomfortable especially for the long drives I take. Dodge trucks were overpriced and came with very few features.
